Solving my problem of single BOA systems with a high instep.

Feet come in all shapes and sizes. Mine are charactarized by a penguin-like square shape, high instep, and narrow ankle.

Single BOA systems control a lace running from the back of the toe box all the way to the top of the boot. Tighening it ideally tightens things evenly across the instep, ankle and shin.

The Salomon Launch SJ Dual Boa is a medium-soft snowboard boot that fits my foot perfectly. It has a narrow heel cup and relatively narrow ankle that all but elimiate heel lift for me.

They are a dual BOA design, but instad of top/bottom zones, one BOA controls an inner, ankle brace, while the second controls a single outer lace in the same fashion as a typical single BOA system.

My experience with the boots

When the boots are first put on and tightened, there is even pressure across the instep, ankle and shin. I’m in heaven.

Once I begin riding however, pressure on the shin pushes on the boot tongue, which pushes the lace, tighening the instep area and loosening the shin area. The only solution to the loose shin is to tighten the BOA to remove the slack. This process repeats until the shin area is perfect, and the instep is crushed.

This issue is presmably what led to the adoption of top/bottom dual boa configurations. Unfortunately

What I need, for the boot above my instep to be sitiffer/more resistant to the pull of the lace.
